Hot Air Balloon Ride - 2004

When I was a kid, we lived near a big field - one that was used for hot air ballooning. Almost every weekend my dad and I would drive past that field and he would tell me that someday we would go up for a ride.

But life goes by quickly and the next thing I knew, I was an adult and married, my dad was 55, and we still hadn't taken that balloon ride.

So as a gift for Christmas 2003, Mike and I gave my dad a family balloon ride and in March of 2004, Mike and I, my sister and her husband and my Dad (Mom wanted to stay on the ground, but came to see us all off) got to see the Arizona desert from above, in a balloon!

It was amazing - bobbing up high and then low, watching the world go by from the balloon. Everything was so beautiful. It was early morning and the skies started to become busy with other balloonists - several of them called out greetings to each other. It was like being in an entirely different - quiet, peaceful and friendly - world! Even today, this is still one of my favorite memories!
